All this does is put your photos in groups by date - I had the file folders organized the way I wanted them and it destroyed that order. Not what I wanted.

… there are really a few features i am missing. So i would like to add more than just one source. So for example i have my local photos and i have a big library on my NAS at home. Beside multiple sources, i`d really love to see auto scan in the background for new folders i added. So i do not need to manually rescan the whole library which takes some minutes. If you add these two features, i`ll give 5 stars. Thanks!
...background auto refresh and you’ll deserve 5 stars. So it’s only 4. Pretty surprising that It does what they said it would. Ah, well, and it is too expensive.
..app is very slow (on a 6-core Mac pro!) crashes quite often.
For large folders, scrolling is often slow. Apart from that it’s a very good app. Still missing: multiple root folders.
Even for not so big albums (around 300 pictures) the application is almost unusable and ridiculously slow..
I wanted a way to quickly organize my photos. Unbound provided that. It allows me to set up a new album, drag and drop photos, delete albums or photos that I don’t want, develop my own classification system. Exactly what I wanted.
wanted an app that wasn’t overly “ cluttered “with features I did not particularily need. Simple, quick, uses little space on computer….like how it uses files that are already there anyways, rather than compiling another set of photos on computer drive, that was my interest in unbound...
The app always crash, I use it with a network hard drive and it always crash !
I love this app. The fact that it used simple file structures was the selling point for me. It’s speed, too. It works fast even for tens of thousands of photos. Was a bit pricey though.
I like this app, it is simple, easy to use, and preserves your file structures. One thing that would really improve the app would be to allow tagging of the photos (and searching the tags).
One of the properties that gets lost when photos trasnfer from my Panasonic GF 1 to the Mac is that the orientation is somehow lost (happens in Picasa and Unbound). So I really miss the ability to rotate within the app like in Picasa, rather than use Unbound because I would have ot open the file in Preview to rotate. Unbound has crashed once already in my first time using it with no complicated apps open. I do import my photos on an external drive and had iMovie open at the time. App is a little underwhelming for something that costs >$10
It’s almost impossible to use this app as it scrolls photos veeeery slowly. Fix needed!
The day I decided to switch from iphoto and tryed unbound I was very happy: beend able to organize folders the way I wanted was a good leap in been free. But folders have only one level, so all folders and subflders appear in the same place. And worts of all, every little scroll, while browsing photos, makes the mac stop and think. I don’t have a new machine, but not so bad to justify this behaviour. Can really imprrove performance
Im not sure whether I have discovered everything about this programme yet. I bought it because iPhoto would no longer launch and I wanted something simple, but perhaps it is far too simple! I imported about 7000 photos into Unbound, including their captions, but I cannot find the captions and when I do a search it only seems to search the album/folder names. This makes it impossible to trace many of my photos which have now become lost in the mass. I cannot crop or straighten the photos. Their caption does not get sent when I email them. When I send them to a google group, google puts the group signature in between each photo. So I am not very happy with Unbound, so far. It does not even have a copy function (apple C) for copying the titles, so you have to type the name of each photo of a series all over again! The quality of the "medium" size photo sent my email does not seem to be very good, whereas "large" is gigantic.
This app is garbage. It crashes everytime I use it. It also doesn’t allow sub-albums to be created. Simply an overpriced viewer. Avoid at all costs!
Contrary to the developer’s claims the application is very slow. I have around 10,000 photos for last 11 years and application startup time is more than a minute.
I’ll gladly change my review to 5 stars when it allows them but until then it’s hardly usable.
I have been using this app for about three months. I’ve loved it from day one, but have always suffered a bit because of laggy performance. I am happy to say that the latest update has fully resolved this. The app is now genuinely fast, and very stable. Keep up the great work, guys.
I’m really liking this as a lightweight and fast replacement for iPhoto. It keeps my photos in a simple folder structure so I’ll be able to easily see all my albums from other apps as well. I use this on my dropbox folder and use the iOS apps to be able to see all my photos from any device. Its a great combo.
